My name is Eric Hayes, and this is your daily invitation to quiet the noise, yield your thoughts to the indwelling Holy Spirit, and allow Him to renew your mind through the truth of scripture. Doing so will best equip you to follow along as we walk through these 50 days together. Now, please pause and begin where every yielded mind begins, gratitude. In your journal, write down three things you're grateful for today. Consider sharing those gratefuls with someone you love, because gratitude shared strengthens both the one that gives thanks and the one that receives it. Now, take a slow breath and prepare your heart for today's passage and teaching. Ask the Lord to make His word personal. Ask Him for revelation. Ask Him to expose all things that need to come under His authority. The yielded mind is formed through surrender. Open your heart. Open your journal. Open your mind to the indwelling Holy Spirit. Here is today's teaching. Welcome to day 22 of your 50-day journey of reflection and renewal. This week, your journey moves to surrender. Week one in Revelation helped you see the truth of who God says you are. Conflict week exposed the ongoing battle between the spirit and the flesh. And discipline week taught you to cultivate daily habits that help you follow the Holy Spirit. Now your journey moves deeper. Surrender is where you release control and trust God completely. Many people fear surrender because they see surrender as giving something up. God reveals surrender as the pathway to freedom. Today's lesson is called Trusting God, and today's passage is found in Proverbs 3:5-6, and I'm reading from the ESV. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding." In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths. These words come from the wisdom of Solomon, a king whom God blessed with extraordinary understanding. Even so, Solomon reminds God's people that life's greatest security is never found in human wisdom. Lasting confidence comes from trusting the Lord. Notice the contrast in these verses. Trust in the Lord. Do not lean on your own understanding. Every day, friend, presents a choice between those two ways of living. Your own understanding is limited. You only see a small part of the story. But God, He sees the beginning from the end. His perspective is complete, His wisdom is perfect, and His purposes never fail. Trust begins where self-reliance ends. Many people want God to explain every detail before they choose to obey. Scripture calls you to a different response. God invites you to trust His character even when you cannot fully understand His plan. Friend, surrender begins right there. Releasing control does not mean becoming passive or careless. Choosing surrender means placing every decision, every fear, every ambition, and every unanswered question into the hands of a faithful Father whose love has already been proven through Jesus Christ. Solomon also says, "In all your ways acknowledge Him." Surrender is not reserved for life's biggest decisions. Following God's direction includes ordinary moments as well. Your work, your conversations, your relationships, your priorities, and your daily choices all become opportunities to acknowledge His lordship, His leadership. And then God's promise follows that surrender. He will make straight your paths. As you yield to the indwelling Holy Spirit, He faithfully directs your steps. Sometimes His leading is unmistakably clear. Other times He guides one faithful step at a time. Either way, His promise remains unchanged. God never abandons those who place their confidence in Him. Today, yield your mind to this truth. Surrender begins when you trust God's wisdom more than your own understanding. Let's pray. Father, thank you for being completely trustworthy in every season of life. Teach this listener to rest confidently in your wisdom when questions remain unanswered and the path ahead seems uncertain. Renew their mind as they yield their thoughts, their will, and their emotions to your indwelling Holy Spirit. Replace every desire to control the future with steadfast confidence in your perfect love and faithful guidance. Father, lead them one step at a time and give them the courage to follow wherever you direct. And I pray this in the precious and perfect name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen As today's teaching comes to a close, do not rush past what the Holy Spirit may be revealing. Return now to your journal. Write down the revelation you have received. What truth stood out? What challenged your thinking? Next, prayerfully consider opportunities to serve today. Ask God who He might place in your path. How can you encourage, help, listen to, strengthen, or simply be present for someone in need? Be specific. Journal who, when, and how you plan to serve. And finally, as your day comes to an end this evening, return once more to your journal and invite the indwelling Holy Spirit to debrief about your day. Where was obedience strong? Where might repentance be needed? Are there persons to whom you owe an amends? End this day where it began, fully yielded to the indwelling mind of Christ, and I'll meet you again tomorrow on this fifty-day journey of reflection and renewal. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. In Jesus' name, amen.
