 Welcome to The Yielded Mind's 50-day journey of reflection and renewal. My name is Eric Hayes, and this is your daily invitation to quiet the noise, yield your thoughts to the indwelling Holy Spirit, and allow Him to renew your mind through the truth of Scripture. Doing so will best equip you to follow along as we walk through these 50 days together. Now, please pause and begin where every yielded mind begins, gratitude. In your journal, write down three things you're grateful for today. Consider sharing those gratefuls with someone you love, because gratitude shared strengthens both the one that gives thanks and the one that receives it. Now take a slow breath and prepare your heart for today's passage and teaching. Ask the Lord to make His Word personal. Ask Him for revelation. Ask Him to expose all things that need to come under His authority. The yielded mind is formed through surrender. Open your heart. Open your journal. Open your mind to the indwelling Holy Spirit. Here is today's teaching. Welcome to day 27 of your 50-day journey of reflection and renewal. This week, your journey centers on surrender. Yesterday, you discovered that forgiveness releases the burden of bitterness and frees you to walk in the grace of Jesus Christ. Today, you'll face another truth that challenges the way the world thinks. God does some of His greatest work through the very places where you feel the weakest. Today's lesson is called God's Strength in Weakness, and today's passage is found in 2 Corinthians chapter 12, verse 9, and I am reading from the ESV translation, the words of the Apostle Paul. "But He, Christ, said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I, Paul, will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Paul wrote these words after describing what he calls a thorn in the flesh. Scripture never identifies exactly what or who, in my opinion, that thorn was. Three times, however, Paul pleaded with the Lord to remove it. Three times, the answer was no. Instead of removing Paul's weakness, Paul's thorn, Jesus gave him something greater, saying, "My grace is sufficient for you." Then came the reason, "My power is made perfect in weakness." Those words overturn the world's definition of strength. Many people spend their lives trying to hide weakness, overcome weakness, or convince others they have no weakness at all. God's kingdom works differently. The Lord often chooses the places where you feel the most inadequate to display His power most clearly. Weakness is not the enemy of God's work. Self-reliance is. As long as you believe your own strength is enough, dependence upon God will always be limited. Surrender begins when you, friend, acknowledge that you cannot live the Christian life apart from the indwelling Holy Spirit. Paul's response is then remarkable, saying, "Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses." Paul was not celebrating pain. Paul was celebrating God's faithfulness. Every weakness became another opportunity for Christ's power to be displayed. Every limitation became another reminder that God's grace never runs out. Many believers pray, "Lord, make me stronger." God often answers by teaching them to depend more completely upon Him. Such dependence is not failure. Dependence is the pathway to spiritual maturity. The surrendered life no longer asks, "How strong am I?" The surrendered life asks, "How faithfully will I depend upon Christ?" Today, yield your mind to this truth. God's strength is displayed most clearly when you surrender your weakness and depend completely upon His sufficient grace. Let's pray. Father, thank you that your grace is always sufficient for this listener. Meet them in every weakness, every limitation, and every place where they feel inadequate. Renew their mind as they yield their thoughts, their will, and their emotions to your indwelling Holy Spirit. Replace every confidence in self with unwavering confidence in your strength. May the power of Christ rest upon them each and every day, allowing others to see your faithfulness shining through every circumstance. And I pray this in the precious and perfect name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. As today's teaching comes to a close, do not rush past what the Holy Spirit may be revealing. Return now to your journal. Write down the revelation you have received. What truth stood out? What challenged your thinking? Next, prayerfully consider opportunities to serve today. Ask God who He might place in your path. How can you encourage, help, listen to, strengthen, or simply be present for someone in need? Be specific. Journal who, when, and how you plan to serve. And finally, as your day comes to an end this evening, return once more to your journal and invite the indwelling Holy Spirit to debrief about your day. Where was obedience strong? Where might repentance be needed? Are there persons to whom you owe an amends? End this day where it began, fully yielded to the indwelling mind of Christ, and I'll meet you again tomorrow on this 50-day journey of reflection and renewal. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. In Jesus' name, amen.
